Terms and Conditions

By booking an appointment with, or accepting services from, Flue Fighters Chimney Sweeping, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions.

We reserve the right to update, amend, or add to these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice.

1. Payment

1.1

Payment for chimney sweeping services is due upon completion of the work unless alternative arrangements have been agreed in advance.

1.2

Any invoices issued must be paid within 14 days of the invoice date unless otherwise agreed in writing.

2. Customer Obligations

2.1

You are responsible for ensuring that all information provided when making a booking is accurate, complete, and up to date. You must notify us as soon as possible if any details supplied are incorrect or change prior to the appointment.

2.2

Appointments are made on the understanding that an adult (18 years of age or over) will be present at the property at the agreed appointment time.

2.3

If we are unable to gain access to the property at the scheduled appointment time, this will be treated as a cancellation and the charges outlined in Section 5 will apply.

3. Liability

3.1

Any advice or information provided by Flue Fighters Chimney Sweeping is given in good faith and based on the condition of the appliance, flue, and chimney as observed during the visit.

3.2

A chimney sweep involves a visual inspection only. We do not inspect concealed, inaccessible, or otherwise hidden areas unless specifically instructed and agreed beforehand. Accordingly, any advice or observations provided should not be regarded as a guarantee of the condition or safety of the chimney system.

3.3

Any sweeping certificate issued confirms that the chimney was swept on the date stated. It does not constitute a guarantee or warranty that any fireplace, stove, boiler, appliance, flue, liner, or chimney system is safe or free from defects.

3.4

Flue Fighters Chimney Sweeping accepts no liability for defects, deterioration, blockages, structural issues, or appliance failures arising from:

Normal wear and tear;
Accidental or deliberate damage;
Negligence by the property owner or third parties;
Failure to follow manufacturer instructions;
Incorrect fuel usage;
Alterations, repairs, or installations carried out by others; or
Defects in areas not visible or accessible during the appointment.

4. Pricing

4.1

The price for chimney sweeping services will be confirmed at the time of booking. Any additional work, repairs, replacement parts, or remedial actions required will be charged separately and will be discussed with you before work is undertaken where reasonably possible.

4.2

Payment becomes due immediately upon completion of the work. Where goods or parts are supplied, ownership of those goods remains with Flue Fighters Chimney Sweeping until payment has been received in full.

4.3

Booking confirmations, invoices, and payment receipts will be issued electronically to the email address provided by you. We do not routinely send these documents by post.

5. Cancellations and Rescheduling

5.1

If you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment, we ask that you provide as much notice as reasonably possible.

5.2

Where less than 24 hours' notice is given, we reserve the right to charge up to 50% of the booked service fee.

5.3

Where less than 12 hours' notice is given, or where we attend the property and are unable to gain access, we reserve the right to charge up to 100% of the booked service fee.

6. Complaints

6.1

Any complaint regarding our services or goods supplied must be made within 10 days of the service date or delivery date.

6.2

Complaints should first be submitted directly to Flue Fighters Chimney Sweeping, and we will make every reasonable effort to resolve the matter promptly and fairly.

6.3

If a resolution cannot be reached within a reasonable timeframe, you may refer the matter to the relevant Trade Association listed on your sweeping certificate, where applicable.

7. Data Protection (UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018)

7.1

To provide our services, we will retain certain information including your name, address, contact details, service history, appliance details, and any relevant notes relating to your property. Photographs of appliances or installations may also be taken where necessary for record-keeping purposes.

7.2

This information will be held securely and processed in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

7.3

We collect and process your personal data solely for legitimate business purposes, including managing appointments, carrying out services, maintaining service records, processing payments, complying with legal obligations, and sending chimney sweeping reminders.

7.4

We will never sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Information will only be shared where required by law or where necessary to provide our services.

7.5

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

7.6

You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion of your data where applicable, restrict processing, object to certain processing activities, and lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

7.7 GDPR Compliance Statement

We process all personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. 7.8

By booking or using our services, you consent to us contacting you regarding appointments, service reminders, and matters relating to your previous or future chimney sweeping services.

7.9

Use of our services constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. A signature is not required to confirm acceptance.
